DISINTER was formed in 1991 by Preston Shrewsbury & Tom Tangalos. The first line-up consisting of Eddie Suzuski on death vox, Jay Aziz on bass, Judd Snell on drums, & Tom Tangalos (Gorgasm (USA)) on guitar alongside Preston.
Fred Rock III replaced Tom & In Nov. of 91, a 9 song demo was recorded. Disinterra Et Corpus was the title, and it was circulated among friends in the underground. After a year and a half, DISINTER became inactive, as its members found it hard to keep it together while Preston was keeping busy with Eyegouger. Then Eyegouger disbanded in 93, and Preston and Mike Le Gros (Eyegouger, Arise) reformed DISINTER with Dave Chiarella on Drums (Funeral Nation, Usurper), Jay Aziz was replaced by Bats shortly after the reformation, Eddie remained on vox, with Mike and Preston handling guitar. The "Storm of the Witch" demo was recorded in 95, along with the "With The Blood" demo, shortly follwed by the release of "Desecrated", DISINTER'S first full length on Pulverizer Records in 96.
After being forced to replace Eddie, a young newcomer to the scene was introduced to the band by the name of Zion. He was a welcomed addition, and things seemed to start progressing at that point. Then due to commitment issues Dave Chiarella was replaced by Tom Pilassawicz (Ad Infinitum), and DISINTER recorded their 2nd full length with Tom, entitled Welcome To Oblivion. After some U.S. festival appearances, DISINTER was contacted by Deadsun Records from France, and "Welcome To Oblivion" saw its first European release. Shortly after Morbid Records (Germany) signed the band, and a small European tour promoting "Welcome To Oblivion's" release by Morbid quickly followed. After several weekend runs and shows across the country, DISINTER prepared to record Demonic Portraiture, its 3rd full length release.
Unfortunately at that time it was getting harder for Preston to stay focused on the band. "Demonic Portraiture" would be the first DISINTER recording without Preston. Bats would then move to guitar and Maciej (Ad Infinitum) would take over the bass duties. DISINTER toured Europe extensively for the "Demonic Portraiture" release with Swedish death gods Grave, alongside with The Forsaken.
After returning from Europe, Bats would return to bass, and Preston would once again return to guitar. It was at this point it generally got harder to keep things going. Zion would announce his moving out of state and being unable to continue, though when the time came he was still here, Tom was busy with other projects and session work. Preston still battling many of his personal demons. Somehow DISINTER managed to write 22 songs for the studio. It was my intent to make sure every last one of those songs were recorded, knowing, that would be our last trip to the studio, with that line-up, and in a few years that it would be unlikely we were still an active band.
Of the 22 songs recorded 7 were given to Morbid Records, which were released under the title "As We Burn". It is blistering and probably DISINTER'S best release in my opinion. A few shows were performed after it's release with a new bassist by the name of Dionisio Ramirez. Preston and Tom both abandoned DISINTER at that point leaving Mike, Dino, and Zion trying to keep the torch burning. During our dormancy Zion has made it known to us that his heart is no longer with DISINTER and he needs to move on for musical growth.
We are glad to announce the drummer position has been filled by Frankie Harchut and things are working out very quickly. Joining him on lead guitar is non other then co-founder, Tom Tangalos, (Gorgasm (USA)). We are rehearsing and are working on developing a live set and writing new material. Soon we will have returned to form and live desecrations will again begin....
