Annihilator would like to sell us its "Metal" as one of the biggest guitar album of all time. Nevertheless, it's necessary to say that the "all star" aspect will neither fill this album or sublime it, as it looks at the first glance.

When one looks at the cover, it can only make one's mouth water and it shouldn't leave one disappointing. Ten tracks, ten artists with outstanding reputation. Everyone will fall for its favorite one and it's quite normal. I am going to write-down the complete list of artist featuring it, just to tempt you a little: Jeff Loomis, Danko Jones and Angela Gossow (vocals), Steve " Lips " Kudlow, Alexi Laiho, Anders Björler, Michael Amott, Jesper Strömblad, Corey Beaulieu, Jacob Lynam and William Adler. If that's not a stunning star line-up, could you dare to ask for more?!
Yes, there you have it, but that is exactly what I was afraid of - the album is rather uneven. The fault probably lies in the overbooked schedule of each artist. "Clown Parades" really deserves its title since Nevermore's guitar player sounds like a masquerade. I've really had the impression our good friend Jeff has just made a pose of his solo and skills. Pretty unpleasant feeling.

Let's pass to the next track featuring the singer of Arch Enemy. It won't be hard to notice, that we face the same case as one on the previous track. Apart from Danko Jones' perfect lows, vocals on this track are at the very margin of something that can be expected from the famous Swedish group - some short growls and then silence. Still disappointing.

However, it's impossible nothing on this album is worth buying!

The ray of hope comes in the form of inevitable "Wild Child". Although it smells like a good collaboration, the sound is a very cheap mixture of "Children of Bodom" and "Annihilator". It's quite a pleasure listening to father Laiho showing his guitar maneuvers. Without a doubt, the best track on the album.
To my surprise, tracks that follow are not bad either. We are stepping into the field of genuine teamwork where the songs become more triggering and I dare to say more appealing to one's taste. If you are the fan of Trivium or In Flames, your heart will skip a beat. I have to give a special mention to Corey Beaulieu who slams with his high-class solo. Another quite positive point of these tracks is the fact each artist leaves its own mark giving the songs a certain dose of relief...

After listening to the whole album, one could ask an inevitable question, is it, in fact, a good album?
To be dreadfully honest, if it hasn't been for this chain of stars, this album would have pleased only the fans of Annihilator. The tracks featuring the album are relatively classical and it required a personal touch of each artist in order to this album would stand out.
Before one considers buying it, it would be wiser to take a listen first. If none of the featured names make your heart treble, pass it, or this album is possibly going to annoy you.
