Power Metal
Le power metal est un genre de heavy metal qui vise à évoquer un sentiment épique en incorporant des caractéristiques principalement du metal traditionnel ainsi que du thrash metal ou du speed metal, souvent dans un contexte symphonique. Il y a débat autour du terme, qui peut parfois signifier deux styles similaires mais différents: l'un apparu et largement joué en Amérique du Nord, et l'un basé en Allemagne et en Scandinavie. Dans son utilisation contemporaine, le terme "power metal" parle généralement du style Européen (bien que le groupe Américain Kamelot soit une exception notable).
