Last Days Of Humanity

Well, I've known LDOH (LDOH stands for Last Days of Humanity for those that do not know) for a long time now, but only their older stuff. I heard some stuff off their split with S.M.E.S. and whatever other bands (Dutch Assault I believe its called). I thought it was awesome and couldn't get anymore brutal.

I was wrong

Putrefaction in Progress is THE most brutal album ever. And not by means of down-tuned guitars or guttural vocals (well, yes guttural vocals actually), but by means of insanity. Every song on this album is fast-paced and discordant and mind-fucking. The drums are set at a BPM of like a million and thats basically all you can hear. Occasionally you hear some disgustingly brutal vocals which are down-tuned to hell, but for the most part its drums. Sure, theres probably guitars in there somewhere, but you sure as hell can't hear 'em. But thats exactly what makes this album awesome. Every time I start listening to a song, I can't stand. But its so addicting ! And after the songs over, I just want more.

LDOH has set s new standard of awesome for me, and even though there are some great goregrind bands out there (like Lymphatic Phlegm and S.M.E.S.), LDOH are the kings. They can pump out the fastest paced shit around.

I have been a fan of LDOH for a long time now, but I just can't get the hang of this album. That's mainly because it sounds like every song is the same song. This is not because of the guitars or the vocals, but mainly, because you almost cannot hear the guitars due to the drums. Seriously, what were they thinking with those drums ?

Ok, let me explain : LDOH have always been a great band, but this was mainly because of the guitars and the vocals. Now, on this album, you almost cannot hear the guitars, because the drums are so loud.

But that's not even the bad part. I can enjoy music with loud drumming. The annoying part is that the drums here are in the same style of st. anger's drums. Yes, the guitars are really good and they produce awesome riffs once more, but it's a real shame that you can only hear that if you really focus on those guitars.
The one thing that saves this are definitely the vocals. They knew how to do it ever since "The Sound Of Rancid Juices Sloshing Around Your Coffin", and here, in some way, it sounds even better, and of course really, really sick.

I think that if you want to start to listen to LDOH, you should try Hymns of Indigestible Suppuration because that is their best CD ever, and not this one !

The meaning of insanity, human hatred and apocalypse

Last Days Of Humanity.... a band that means a lot to me, and its thanks to THIS masterpiece; they changed the style a lot with In Advanced... EP, and continued with this style.
Let me start with the vocals... these are the most insane and brutal vocals i ever heard (along with Regurgitate and Autophagia) but the production on these is awesome, totally crushing and wet! you ear gurgles and some insane and saturated screams in some songs, and those screams really reflect the HATE in this album, i love them!

The guitars are like chainsaws dismembering the ears of people, for those who say "i cant ear the guitars"... seriously? were are they listeining this album? via the most shitty headphones on earth or what? i can definitely listen those guitars!!!

Bass makes everything much better, its the "soul" of this mayhem of apocalypse... in some parts you can ear the bass very clearly, and its distorted as hell, with a Mortician like tone!
And the drums... the drums are the special characteristic of this album, the snare is a trash can! lot of PING-ING and blast beats at 280 or so BPM. Mark killed it with this release; his stamina is awesome and manages to do the blast beats without problems.

I can`t say more good things of this album because, for me, this is perfect, and im still enjoying it like the first time i listened it,..
HAIL LDOH and GOREGRIND!!!
