Hmm here's a hard one...
As far as Death Metal goes, The Answer is fairly simple: George Kolias from Nile and Gene Hoglan from.... so many bands! These are the two that imo developed the insane cymbal/kickdrum 320 bpm stuff...
On the general aspect i'd have to mention Danny Carey and Van Williams!

when he hits the drums , you can feel alot of energy coming out of it ,and he is one of few drummers , you feel that they are really enjoying it. If you know Metallica ,and think that there is a better band.
